“Nature once determined how we survive, now we determine how nature survives.”

– David Attenborough

About Us

In the heart of the African bush, anti-poaching rangers stand as guardians against the relentless assault on nature. Their mission: to protect wildlife and defend the irreplaceable treasures of our natural world. Yet, their noble duty often comes at an exorbitant price—the cost of their lives.

According to the International Ranger Federation;

“The International Ranger Federation’s Roll of Honour presents an opportunity to review the dangers surrounding the ranger profession by analysing the number and causes of ranger deaths on duty. Over a 16-year period (2006–2021), a total of 2,351 on-duty ranger fatalities have been recorded.”

Each statistic represents a life cut short, a family left shattered and, in many cases, a species inching closer to oblivion. Anti-poaching rangers endure unimaginable hardships—traversing treacherous terrain, avoiding dangerous animals, navigating dense forests and confronting armed poachers—all in the name of safeguarding our planet’s biodiversity.

Task Force Rhino is a registered non-profit with the sole objective of supporting anti-poaching units throughout Southern Africa.

Our specialist training equips anti-poaching rangers with the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate the complexities of their perilous environment more effectively. Rigorous instruction in topics such as small unit tactics, remote medicine and conflict resolution allows us to not only bolster the effectiveness of anti-poaching efforts but also prioritize the safety and well-being of those who dedicate their lives to protecting our planet's precious wildlife.

Through our field-based conservation programs in the field and donor support, we are able to sustain ongoing anti-poaching and conservation operations across Southern Africa.
